Thanks!!What is the best but not so expensive tick and flea shampoo for dogs?
any shampoo will kill fleas if left on long enough i.e. over 5 mins.nothing kills ticks this way.....preventic collars are supposed to be good for ticks, I've never seen one work for fleas.....if you have a problem, you are better off using frontline or advantix...both kill ticks, advantage does not. It lasts a month and you can buy it at dr foster and smith for about 6-7 bucks a month, online. What is the best but not so expensive tick and flea shampoo for dogs?
There is no ';best'; flea/tick shampoo and defiantely no ';best'; flea collar...Do NOT use ANY OTC flea tick products on your dog..they are worthless and they can be very dangerous to your dog..they can cause some serious skin burns, neurological issues, seizures %26amp; death. They contain some very powerful, highly concentrated pesticides taht are very toxic to pets.

I can't tell you the number of dogs %26amp; cats we've treated for serious issues related to OTC flea products.
Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.

You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

More details are available at http://pests.in/fleas.html
Dawn dishwashing detergent.

First soak down the dog, make a huge latter on his fur, and let him stay in the tub like that for about 15 minutes. Rinse, than fill the tub with water to cover him. Watch the fleas float to the top. Repeat.....Do this once a week after that.

Make sure you deflea your home. If you have a shampooer, add ammonia to the water.

As far as ticks, you have to remove them with a hot match. Light match, blow out and place on the tick and pull off with a tweezer, make sure you get the head out. Once removed. Put a spot of lotion on the spot, this will soften the skin to remove anything left of the flea.

Also, feet your dog yeast in their food, just sprinkle on, it replys fleas and ticks. Hope this helps
