Is there really any difference between cheap shampoo and conditioner and expensive?

aren't all these products just about the same and if there is a difference, what's the best for african hair?Is there really any difference between cheap shampoo and conditioner and expensive?
No, they aren't the same at all. Expensive products tend to be expensive for a reason, keep in mind you GET what you PAY for. Shampoos are not all created equally, products such as WEN are expensive because they contain NO sulfate and are naturally based, meaning they are healthier for hair. Hair products like Suave and Pantene are cheaper because they DO contain sulfate which is drying and unhealthy for hair. The ingredients in expensive shampoo is also of higher quality.

For African hair, I use the Napturally Sulfate free shampoo...and that's only because it contains no sulfate and contains aloe butter and essential oils that can promote hair growth and deepy condition the hair shaft.

Good Luck!

I saw a great answer once on a talk show which said that the biggest difference is that the more expensive ones do all sorts of research and are always using the newest technology to update their products. As far as African hair, I can't say what to recommend, but in my experience, the products I've purchased in a salon or beauty store work much better then the ones you can buy anywhere. Good luck!
its all about the ingredients, usually, the more expensive ones have better ingredients and are better for your hair, but if you are on a budget, you can get some walgreenz shampoo that works extremely well.

Im not sure about african hair.

the best thing to do is try different things.

maybe buy the travel sizes of different shampoos to see what you like best.
Nooooo all products are not the same. I have tried many different shampoos and conditioners, some with HORRIBLE results!!

I am a fan of Nexxus and Carol's Daughter for African or African-American hair because these products moisturize and protect sufficiently without weighing hair down. You can even purchase Nexxus at Target now.
I think every thing that you buy at a regular store is the same. You should talk to your hairstylist and buy your hair products there. I personally just buy VO5 because its only $1, and I cant tell the difference between that and any other brand I've tried from the store.
while i dont know what is best for african american hair i can tell yu that there is a difference between expensive adn inexpensive hair products. the expensive ones use better ingredients which are more expensive that are better for your hair
The expensive ones are more expensive lol. They do have better ingredients but do more harm to the enviroment.
According to my hairdresser friends NO! There's a big difference and they're not trying to get me to buy their stuff - they tell me the good stuff I can buy at Walmart.
no
